g'day, like many others i was recently contacted by your staff inviting me to
participate in your T-SHIRT design competition and i have a couple of
questions.
your terms and conditions seem very strict in relation to not
submitting designs that have been submitted elsewhere or been
published in any form, but i have seen several designs being scored on
your website that have been entered in other contests in the past and
not won.
if i as the designer have full ownership of a design in all its forms and it has never
been printed on a shirt or sold can i submit it to itself?
Also, it seems like you gain complete control of the design if you
choose it as a winner, which is unusual... does the artist retain any
rights whatsoever to the image, for example the right to display it in
personal portfolios and websites (flickr and deviantart), or display
it in exhibitions?
and will the artist be compensated if you choose to sell the wining design for non t-shirt purposes?
i appreciate you taking the time to read and address my questions
cheers AJ
Hi AJ,
Glad you asked, we know we need to clarify those terms a little bit.
We cannot accept the designs that are currently being voted on in other design contests as complications related to usage rights may arise if the design wins in both or more.
The artist retains all the rights of non-commercial use of its design.
Winning designs will only be printed on t-shirts for now, but we have so much plans for expanding our range of product and of course the artist will be compensated for each and every product. That's why we're working on an alternative prize system which will be more flexible, suitable and much more beneficial for designers. We plan to announce it sometime in August, so stay tuned!
